Wuhan LuoJiaYiYun Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., as an enterprise with considerable strength in the development field of high-end laser scanning detection equipment, has recently completed an angel round of financing worth tens of millions of yuan. This round of financing was exclusively invested by DeXun Investment, under the financial consultancy of WeiZhen Capital. The company plans to use the funds to further develop high-precision scanners, iterate on core technology, and optimize the production line.
"LuoJiaYiYun" is dedicated to developing lightweight, high-precision, high-performance LiDAR products and owns independent intellectual property rights. Its products are widely used in mapping, power line inspection, land and water resources surveying, urban 3D modeling, forestry and agricultural resource surveying, and rail transit detection, among other fields.
Due to the rapid development of autonomous driving, robotics, and UAVs, LiDAR technology has become a focus of attention in various sectors. Particularly in the field of mapping, LiDAR technology is highly esteemed for its active measurement approach. The technology has the advantages of being unaffected by lighting and shadows, and it minimizes weather impacts. It can acquire data closer to the real environment with high precision, making it an ideal choice for obtaining high-accuracy digital elevation models over large areas.
According to public data, by 2023, the global LiDAR market size is expected to reach 10 billion USD, with the Chinese market size being 14 billion yuan; among this, the high-end mapping grade LiDAR market share is about 10% to 20%, approximately not exceeding 2 billion yuan.
Although the market has long been monopolized by overseas companies, "LuoJiaYiYun" has made significant progress in optoelectronic detection, high-speed AD chips, and manufacturing processes. According to different usage scenarios, the company has divided its business into four systems: UAV airborne, 360-degree vehicular, ground-based continuous 3D scanning, and special purposes. For example, in the UAV airborne domain, "LuoJiaYiYun" developed the FT1500 LiDAR, which is a high-precision, lightweight product with significant technology breakthroughs in high-frequency, long-distance measurement.
Test data shows that the maximum emission frequency of traditional Chinese LiDAR devices is 1 million points per second, while the FT1500 can reach 2 million points per second. Under the condition of a laser emission frequency of 1MHz, the FT1500's maximum measurement range can be increased from 150 meters to over 1000 meters, with a farthest measurement distance of 1500 meters, and it weighs only 2.9 kilograms. The product is highly integrated, and it can adapt to various types of vehicles, such as fixed-wing UAVs, multi-rotor UAVs, helicopters, and unmanned boats, demonstrating its wide applicability.
In the rapidly developing LiDAR industry, "LuoJiaYiYun" is continuing to break through industry barriers with its technological innovation and market foresight, contributing to the research and development of high-end equipment for the future while also expecting to reach a new peak in sales performance.
LuoJiaYiYun has recently launched point cloud fusion software that greatly enhances the application scope of the FT1500, turning it into an integrated solution suitable for a variety of needs. The cloud density of the FT1500 airborne LiDAR is three times that of traditional products, providing more detailed data for various application scenarios.
Meanwhile, to ensure the accuracy of the information acquired, Luo Jia Yi Yun has also launched the portable FT1500H laser scanner. This device uses high-speed rotating mirrors to scan, generating consistent and evenly distributed point cloud data. With its lightweight (2.6 kg) and excellent ability to detect seven echoes, it can be effective even in complex terrains, and its open data port can meet the needs of various integrated sensors.
In order to ensure measurement accuracy while reducing costs, Luo Jia Yi Yun equipped with low-frequency sampling chips and low-resolution angle measurement modules, and combined with their high-precision laser scanning algorithms, has achieved sub-millimeter level in distance measurement and one-thousandth of a degree in angle measurement precision.
In terms of business model, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on-board services account for a significant proportion of Luo Jia Yi Yun's revenue structure. The company has sold more than 200 units of equipment, with prices ranging from 200,000 to 600,000 yuan, and the expected annual sales can exceed 60 million yuan. The company's customer base covers many well-known enterprises such as Feima Robotics, Zongheng Dapeng UAV, and Orenda Technology.
In terms of team composition, Professor Mao Qingzhou, the founder of Luo Jia Yi Yun, has more than 20 years of R&D experience in the field of remote sensing instruments and other related interdisciplinary domains, and has received support from the Aerospace Science and Technology Research Institute of Wuhan University. Currently, the company is committed to the research and development of core technologies for mapping-grade LiDAR, continuously optimizing its production lines, and improving process efficiency.
The executive director of the investment institution DeXun Investment, Fu Hao, stated that as one of the traditional application fields of LiDAR, the mapping sector has a broad market prospect. Although the technical threshold and prices of high-end laser scanners are high and have mainly been dominated by foreign manufacturers, Luo Jia Yi Yun, with its technological accumulation and the disciplinary advantages of Wuhan University, can produce products with performance comparable to high-end foreign products but at only a third of the price, thus it has quickly gained market recognition and achieved rapid revenue growth. This marks the rise of domestic high-end equipment and shows the power of technology in driving industry development.
